Influenciada por una estética, moda y objetos propios de épocas que resultan anacrónicas, Angela Burson (Liberty, Misuri, 1969) pinta figuras, sus pertenencias y espacios habitados dando lugar a relaciones psicológicas y sociales complejas.

A menudo estas figuras están recortadas o sin cabeza, por lo que el espectador ve los cuerpos vestidos no como retratos en sí, sino como una colección de diferentes objetos y motivos que describen al personaje. Burson toma los elementos que componen sus obras de fotografías familiares, aunque también pueden ser inventados: un traje, una maleta, una habitación vacía… todos ellos pretenden aportar un significado que el espectador termina de configurar con las diferentes narrativas posibles que existen en las relaciones entre los objetos.

Influenced by an aesthetic, fashion, and objects typical of times that are anachronistic, Angela Burson (Liberty, Missouri, 1969) paints figures, their belongings and inhabited spaces, giving rise to complex psychological and social relationships.

Often these figures are cropped or headless, so the viewer sees the dressed bodies not as portraits themselves, but as a collection of different objects and patterns that describe the character. Burson takes the elements that make up her works from family photographs, although they can also be invented: a dress, a suitcase, an empty room… all of them try to provide a meaning that the viewer himself ends up configuring with the different possible narratives that exist in relationships between the objects.
