La camisa es torpe en sí misma. Incluso cuando no está colgada o puesta, la tela guarda en sí misma una noción inconfundible de camisería. (…) La tela no es mero accidente, es la respuesta a una primera necesidad: cubrirse. Luego aparece el ejercicio compositivo de elementos de auto-ordenación, y el cuerpo será el lugar sobre el cual se ejerce el acto de investidura. (…) Una manga puede ser muchas cosas cuando se descose y abstrae de la presunta totalidad funcional de una camisa. Embudo decantador, atajo para la muñeca, manga pastelera. Ni envoltorio ni vaina, anuncia la ilusión de un entrar y un salir.

The shirt is clumsy in itself. Even when it’s not hanging or being worn, the cloth itself bears an unmistakable notion of shirting.(…) The cloth is a mere accident; it is the response to a primary need: to cover oneself. Then comes the compositional exercise of elements of self-organisation, and the body is the place on which the act of investiture is exerted. (…) A sleeve can be many things when it is taken apart and abstracted from the presumed functional totality of a shirt. Decanting funnel, shortcut for the wrist, pastry bag. Neither a wrapping nor a sheath, it announces the illusion of an entrance and an exit.
