I was here es el resultado de una reflexión en torno a la impronta que deja el turismo sobre el territorio. La irresistible atracción por lo exótico ha terminado promoviendo la complacencia en el desarraigo –físico, familiar, intelectual, emocional– que permite al turista reconocerse en cualquier parte como en casa, en cualquier parte como en ningún lado, asumir el vacío y viajar.

El proyecto se articula alrededor de una amalgama de dibujos –cascadas, elementos de parques de atracciones, souvenirs, etcétera– que conforman una iconografía de la catástrofe del espectáculo turístico. Evocan el frenético deslizamiento del simulacro por la superficie del territorio y evidencian el colapso del espacio turístico.

I was here is the result of a reflection on the mark left by tourism on the territory. The irresistible attraction for the exotic has ended up promoting complacency in the uprooting – physical, familiar, intellectual, emotional – that allows the tourist to recognise himself anywhere as at home, anywhere as nowhere, to assume the emptiness and to travel.

The project is articulated around an amalgam of drawings – waterfalls, amusement park elements, souvenirs, etc. – that form an iconography of the catastrophe of the tourist spectacle. They evoke the frenetic sliding of the simulacrum across the surface of the territory and evidence the collapse of the tourist space.
