En el proyecto «manu scriptus» de la artista Chingsum Jessye Luk (Hong Kong, 1982) la caligrafía toma el protagonismo. Desde la censura y los límites de la privacidad hasta la diseminación de la información y el aprendizaje, a partir de la repetición la artista convierte el manuscrito en un tributo a lo absurdo.

Chingsum Jessye Luk explora la frontera inestable entre la escritura y el dibujo, así como su relación con la saciedad semántica y la ortográfica, donde la repetición lleva a la pérdida del sentido. El origen de las piezas radica en un texto procesado hasta que sus contenidos literales y semánticos sean total o parcialmente ilegibles. Debido a la ilegibilidad, su sentido o contenido ya no importa, o quizás importe aún más precisamente debido a ella.

In the project “manu scriptus” by the artist Chingsum Jessye Luk (Hong Kong, 1982), calligraphy takes center stage. From censorship and the limits of privacy to the dissemination of information and learning, through repetition the artist turns the manuscript into a tribute to the absurd.

Chingsum Jessye Luk explores the unstable border between writing and drawing, as well as its relationship with semantic and orthographic satiety, where repetition leads to the loss of meaning. The origin of the pieces lies in a text processed until its literal and semantic contents are totally or partially illegible. Because of the unreadability, its meaning or content no longer matters, or perhaps they matter even more precisely because of it.
