SANTANDER MUSIC - PAISAJE CON CABALLO Catalina Julve - ARTESANTANDER Editorial
SANTANDER MUSIC
Glassio
Among the main novelties of the renewed 2024 fair is the special collaboration with the Santander Music Festival, which includes an opening concert on 12 July at 6 P.M. We will have the chance to meet Glassio, the project halfway between indie dance and dream pop by the Iranian-Irish singer, composer and producer Sam R.
SANTANDER MUSIC
Colección
An exhibition space in which the programme of talks and discussions will take place, will display a selection from the Santander Music Collection, made up of a large number of works of art that the festival has brought together through collaboration with international artists. The exhibition, curated by Pizzicato, will include pieces by Gianmarco Magnani, Julien Pacaud, Javier Mariscal, Tatsuro Kiuchi, Bakea, Mads Berg, Michela, Marco Oggian and Raúl Allen.

PAISAJE CON CABALLO
Catalina Julve
The artist Catalina Julve, selected through an open call by the Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (IEB), participates in ARTESANTANDER curated by Marta Mantecón.
The curator Marta Mantecón explains: “The triptych that gives this project its title comes from the opening sequence of Tarkovsky’s film Andrei Rubliov (1966): The script foresaw the following episode: a peasant made wings, climbed a cathedral, threw himself into the void from the top and crashed to the ground. He could see nothing. He fell to the ground and killed himself: nothing else. As he flies, we see a herd of galloping horses. At the moment when the fatal accident occurs, a horse – an animal that provides infinite metaphors – rolls on the ground, falls and rises, showing how nature, outside the narrative, follows its own evolution. Catalina Julve transfers this scene to large-format paper, inverting the sequence. She draws with clay that she has previously kneaded with her hands, as she uses a paste that contains particles of graphite amalgamated in a greasy medium that she can mould (…) Catalina Julve reflects on the nature of images in a progressive work of simplification and knowledge about the intimate connection that exists between nature, art and materials”.
